About My Practice - Banner

As a clinician/consultant, I am committed to providing effective life-changing care that is bespoke to the client’s needs, which promotes wellbeing and growth within the relational dynamics and systems they are part of. This is initiated by completing a thorough assessment of the client’s past experiences inclusive of attachment, trauma and neurodivergent history if appropriate, along with patterns, power dynamics and social hierarchies that may be overtly and covertly present in their life.

I have presented how I developed this assessment within the Action Trauma Conference Neurodiversity Conference 2025 and am currently writing training on this assessment process which will be available at a later date.

My process is central to developing and nurturing a therapeutic relationship which is neuroinclusive and respects the intersectionality of the individual and the relational dynamics and systems they may be part of. This is because I believe we are what we co-construct. I have further elaborated on this within my EDI policy.

My therapeutic approach is determined from the assessment as well as what the individual or couple seeking support may feel able to engage in. I meet the individual or couple where they are available, and this often means I am able to make connections with individuals who have struggled to connect with other services and support systems. I believe in informing individuals or couples of the processes involved so that they can make an informed choice, as I believe ultimately, they will best know how this service should be tailored to their needs, albeit I understand that some individuals or couples may not be fully able to access that space.

Ultimately, I create space for the unknown, and am very comfortable working within a space where both myself and the individual or couple will co-create a space where healing and new meaning making can take place. This journey will integrate both top down and bottom up therapeutic intervention which fits the individual or couple’s needs

The therapeutic journey starts and ends with the individual but at the same time in therapy, we co-construct a relationship between ourselves as client and therapist, that is embedded within a low arousal framework. It is where a form of connection grows from a non-imposing space, so that there are no speculations as to what that space will appear to be, except free from distress and a feeling of being witnessed and validated by the other.

It is in this authentic space that we nurture and create a relational togetherness in the ‘we’ space that we may reflect and make new meaning in how we move forward both within the relationship but also as individuals.

As therapist and co-facilitator of this authentic ‘we’ space, this practice is bespoke to your needs. This means that it will take the shape of what is required for you and will evolve into a therapeutic process designed around how you interact. This has enabled us to provide a specialized support across a range of neurodivergent experiences as well as a range of disabilities. This also means that this therapeutic work can be adjusted to fit the needs of children, adolescents/teenagers and adults either face-to-face, online/telephone or a hybrid of both.

This way of working is very tailored to anyone exploring identity, where the focus is on how we can grow into where we need to be.

Face-to face may require some additional room booking.

I am based in Belfast, but I can provide remotely accessed services across the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland & Republic of Ireland in Psychotherapy, Clinical Supervision, Autism/neurodiversity practice.

I specialise in clinical, coaching, supervisory and therapeutic services for autistic/neurodivergent individuals and those providing support for autistic/neurodivergent individuals, as well as other neurodiversity experiences, trauma and attachment.

My approach to therapy is grounded in trauma-informed care (TIC)—an understanding that trauma can deeply affect every part of a person’s life. Rather than asking “What’s wrong with you?”, trauma-informed therapy asks, “What has happened to you?” This perspective prioritises safety, trust, empowerment, and collaboration, helping individuals or couples feel seen, respected, and in control of their healing process.

A trauma-informed therapist recognises the signs and impact of trauma, responds with sensitivity and flexibility, and actively works to prevent re-traumatisation. In practice, this means creating a safe, non-judgmental space; building trust through honesty and consistency; offering individuals or couples choices and shared decision-making; and honoring each individual’s or couple’s strengths, resilience, and cultural background.

While trauma-informed care is a guiding framework for all therapy, trauma-specific therapies directly address the psychological effects of trauma through specialised, evidence-based methods. I am trained in multiple trauma-focused models and integrate them to meet each individual’s or couple’s unique needs and goals.

Therapeutic approaches that I provide can vary between an integrative, pluralistic, trauma informed and attachment-based level depending on what each client’s needs are:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT)
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT additional)
  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) aka Tapping
